Neuroscience in the Therapy Room

Should therapists embrace neuroscience? This workshop will examine the debate about neuroscience’s relevance to therapy, and provide an introduction to the subject so that participants can judge for themselves. The seminar will cover some basic ground and will then address the current understanding of the right and left hemisphere’s of the brain – and the neuroscience views on attachment and affect regulation. We will reflect together on ways to bring an understanding of the nervous system into therapeutic work . – Led by Peter Afford 6th May 2017 10am to 4:30pm Standard price £50 (concession rate is applicable for current Connect counsellors) Booking in advance is essential. About Peter Afford Peter is a counsellor and integrative therapist with over 20 years experience in private practice and employee counselling as well as a Focusing teacher. He has taught neuroscience to student and graduate therapists since 2004 and has written a number of articles on the subject. Venue : St Martin’s Church, 231 Upper College Ride, Old Dean, Camberley GU15 4HE Limited parking on site, but parking just beyond, on nearby side roads (eg Ballard Road)

Charges – The regular (Single Day) Training Course costs £50 per person, and a concession rate applies for existing Connect Counsellors (£ tbc).

Please note that once you have registered your interest in a course , a confirmation email may be sent (and map, if requested). Please provide your email address to the office, so we can keep you informed about the provisional and final dates and – if you confirm – add you to attendants list; then nearer to the training date, any handout material from the workshop will usually be emailed to you. Other than these, there will be NO further information sent out before the day. Please keep your booking information sheet, to act as a reminder of the training days you have booked and please put the date in your diary! Places are limited and will be allocated on a first come first served basis – pre booking is essential. Due to the numbers of delegates expected, refunds will not be possible unless Connect has to cancel the event. Receipts and certificates of attendance will be provided. Tea and coffee will be provided. Please bring your own lunch, unless otherwise indicated, as there may be no shops nearby. Each Training Day will start promptly at 10am and run until 4pm.
